This is a very special kokeshi by Iguchi Satoru. I love these flat kokeshi designs, but you hardly see any as they are extremely rare. I found one by Sansaku some years ago, but did not buy her. I am still regretting my decision. This time, I could not resists this kokeshi. Her face is recognizable as work by Iguchi Saturu. This kokeshi is lovely decorated with a beautifully carved kimono with flowers. Her hair is also carved.
Iguchi Satoru is a major award winning artisan. He has won the most prestigious Prime Minister Award.
