This is a rare kokeshi by Yuji Watanabe. She has a beautiful kimono with Hydrangea flowers who also cover her hair. The doll has a very subtle balance between the flowers and the wood. She also comes with her original box!
Yuji is part of a well-known kokeshi artisan family. He is the son of the famous Masao Watanabe and the father of Kunihiko Watanabe. His kokeshi are arguably amongst the most popular and sought by collectors all over the world making them highly expensive.
