These Two Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi represent two of the 'seven lucky gods' or 'gods of good fortune'. They are mythological japanese deities which originated in the 17th century.
On the left we have hotei, the god of abundance, contentment and happiness. He is depicted as a cheerful buddhist monk with protruding belly. He is pictured holding a sack loaded with fortunes. He is also known as the 'laughing buddha'.
On the right we have Daikokuten, the god of commerce and prosperity. He holds a big bag of money and a magical mallet.
