Kazuo Takamizawa is a famous artisan who has received the prestigious prime minister award. Until the early seventies his main type of kokeshi had a minimal wood burn design. Later he used a little more color in his kokeshi. This large kokeshi is a representation of his older work in which he used wood burning techniques. It also has a beautiful lavish camelia pattern. This type of his work is rare and highly sought after.
