This is a rare kokeshi by the famous awardwinning Sanpei Yamanaka. The kokeshi has such a lovely deep colors. She is nicely tucked in her jacket.
Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi throughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979.
