This is a slim kokeshi by maybe one of the most famous kokeshi makers of all times. She wears a lovely kimono decorated with beautiful birds and Japanese patterns. She has long hair brushed towards one side.
Sansaku Sekiguchi was born in 1925 an he is the only certified Master of Creative Kokeshi by the Japanese Government. He even has his own museum in Gunma. He won numerous awards including three times the prestigious Prime Minister Award!!! His kokeshi are arguably among the most popular, and sought by collectors all over the world making them highly expensive. Sekiguchi-San passed away in 2018. His sons, Toa, Toshio and his daughter Izumi now also make kokeshi quite successfully winning many prices at contests.
