This Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi by Toa Sekiguchi is spectacular! She is large and has a very nice design. The artisan has put a lot of details in this doll. She has nice colors giving it a warm feeling. This Kokeshi is still in good condition.
Toa Sekiguchi is a famous kokeshi artisan. He is part of a well-known kokeshi artisan family. He is the son of the famous Sansaku Sekiguchi who has his own kokeshi museum in Gunma. Toa was born in Shibukawa City and still lives and works there with his family. He has won numerous awards for his kokeshi including the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award.
