This Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi by Toa Sekiguchi is spectacular! She has a slender design and the kimono is just amazing. Her kimono is decorated with flowers painted and engraved through burning techniques. The colors are soft.
Toa is part of a well known kokeshi artisan family. He is the son of the famous Sansaku Sekiguchi who has his own kokeshi museum in Gunma. Toa was born in Shibukawa City and still lives and works there with his family. He has won numerous awards for his kokeshi including the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award.
