This kokeshi is a rare design find and is made for the Camellia Festival in Oshima which is held annually between January and March. Oshima lies off the coast of Honshu in the Pacific Ocean. It is the largest of the seven Izu Islands. It houses the largest Tsubaki (Camellia) garden of Japan.
