This is a lovely doll by the famous awardwinning Sanpei Yamanaka. Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi throughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought after by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979.
