This kokeshi is easily recognisable as the work by the famous Inosuke Kobayashi. His Kokeshi are often heavy and big round pieces like this one is. He won the prestigious Prime Minister Award in 1979 and his kokeshi are collected all over the world. Kobayashi was born in 1931 and died early in life. His date of passing is unknown.
