This is a special Vintage kokeshi that was handmade by the renown artist Chiyomatsu Kano. She has a lovely red kimono with flowers and the typical facial expression. These kokeshi are very rare finds! The wood of this kokeshi is also very high quality and heavy.
Kano Chiyomatsu was born in 1935 and started making kokeshi in 1953. He won the prestigious Prime Minister award twice among many more awards making him one of the most decorated and prized kokeshi master in Japan. His date of passing us unknown.
