This is a lovely doll by the famous awardwinning Sanpei Yamanaka. She has lovely flushed cheeks. Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi troughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought after by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979. This kokeshi is dated Showa 56 which corresponds to 1981.
