This is a lovely doll by the famous awardwinning Sanpei Yamanaka. Sanpei Yamanaka combined different woods for this kokeshi which gives it that extra dimension.
Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi troughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979.
