This is a spectacular kokeshi by Kato Tatsuo. She is beautifully shaped and has the typical nose, lips and face Tatsuo gives to his dolls. She is beautifully decorated with Japanese geometric patterns. Tatsuo's work is always outstanding. This is museum quality!
Kato Tatsuo started making kokeshi in the 1960s and studied under master Sansaku Sekiguchi. He is very popular and a major award winning artisan.
