This is a spectacular kokeshi by Kato Tatsuo. She wears a golden kimono with flowers. The details are amazing. Interesting to notice is that her mounth is covered. Her colors are well-balanced and give her a glamorous look. The hair is made with great eye for detail. As a matter of fact, Tatsuo's work is always outstanding. This is as good as it gets! This is museum quality!
Kato Tatsuo started making kokeshi in the 1960s and studied under master Sansaku Sekiguchi. He is very popular and a major award winning artisan.
