This is a spectacular Vintage Kokeshi by Yoshida Takashi and winner of the Minister of Education's Encouragement Award. The color tone of the natural wood is warm and the engraved flowers are next level. What a special piece. This is a very rare kokeshi from Yoshida's kokeshi.
Yoshida Takashi was born in June 1948 in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. He attended Kiryu Tech HS majoring in Textile. He began creating kokeshi dolls in 1978 at the age of 30 and studied under Inosuke Kobayashi. In 1982, he won the Minister of Education's Encouragement Award for the kokeshi "きさらぎ- Kisaragi" at the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition. Later on he also won the Prime Minister's Award and he was a member of the Japan Kokeshi Crafts Association.
