These kokeshi are beautifully decorated with pink and white plum blossoms. They are titled 'Umezono'. The Japanese plum (ume) is a popular flower in Japan and plays an important role in their culture. It is one of the first blossoms to appear each year and they prelude the start of spring. This event is celebrated with the plum festival 'Ume Matsuri'.
