This is a powerful doll by the famous awardwinning Sanpei Yamanaka. She is titled 'Sejiaku' which means 'Silence'. The carved bands on her head and body give her an intriguing dimension.
Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi troughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979.
