This is a rare doll by the famous awardwinning Sanpei Yamanaka. She has an interesting shape with a large head resting on a slim body. The engraved bands give the doll that extra dimension. This kokeshi is still in good condition.
Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi troughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought after by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979.
