This kokeshi is an exclusive work by the famous Inosuke Kobayashi. It is a limited edition. Where he normally makes kokeshi that are heavy, big and round, he also has more slender designs like this one. This kokeshi is simple yet very sophisticated. what we like about this kokeshi is the base tone of the doll being the natural wood. Inosuke's kokeshi are mostly colored. Special is also her face being engraved out of the wood. it is 3 dimensional. He only does this with is more valuable pieces.
Inosuke Kobayashi is a Prime Minister Award Winning Kokeshi Artisan and his kokeshi are collected all over the world. Kobayashi was born in 1931 and died early in life. His date of passing is unknown.
