This is a beautiful kokeshi by Kato Tatsuo. She has a lovely long black hair and her eyes are closed which makes her special. Her kimono is decorated with lovely flowers. The wood grain is also spectacular giving the design of her kimono extra lines. Tatsuo's work is always outstanding.
Kato Tatsuo started making kokeshi in the 1960s and studied under master Sansaku Sekiguchi. He is very popular and a major award winning artisan.
