This is a spectacular kokeshi by Kato Tatsuo. She is dated 1987. Her kimono decorated with a engraved flowers with a natural wood-look. What a natural elegance she has! The hair is made with great eye for detail. As a matter of fact, Tatsuo's work is always outstanding. This is museum quality and a large version!
Kato Tatsuo started making kokeshi in the 1960s and studied under master Sansaku Sekiguchi. He is very popular and a major award winning artisan.
