This is a spectacular kokeshi by Yuji Watanabe. The face is so recognisable and his work is always outstanding. Her black hair is wonderfully carved. The doll has a very powerful appearance. This doll is museum quality. She is still in very good condition and comes witrh her original box.
Yuji is part of a well known kokeshi artisan family. He is the son of the famous Masao Watanabe and the father of Kunihiko Watanabe. His kokeshi are arguably amongst the most popular and sought by collectors all over the world making them highly expensive.
