This is a beautiful exclusive Vintage Kokeshi by Yoshida Takashi. She is beautifully sculptured from a piece of wood and special about there is the glossy sparkling finish. This s very rare from Yoshida's kokeshi.
Yoshida's most commonly known work is colorful and rich in decoration. His more rare pieces are like these, where the natural wood is the highlight of the doll. These pieces are highly searched for and this kokeshi is therefore an excellent opportunity to add to your collection.
Yoshida Takashi was born in June 1948 in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. He attended Kiryu Tech HS majoring in Textile. He began creating kokeshi dolls in 1978 at the age of 30 and studied under Inosuke Kobayashi. In 1982, he won the Minister of Education's Encouragement Award for the kokeshi "きさらぎ- Kisaragi" at the National Modern Kokeshi Exhibition. Later on he also won the Prime Minister's Award and he was a Mmember of the Japan Kokeshi Crafts Association.
