This woodblock print is the third panel of the triptych 'Mutsu no kuni chidori no Tamagawa (Plover jewel river in Mutsu Province)' by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. This triptic represents three women collect brine for salt on a shoreline with chidori in flight above them. This triptych sold at Christies on 12 July 2018 for 2500 GBP.
Utagawa Kuniyoshi was a pupil of Toyokuni I but later pursued a career as an independent ukiyo-e artist. He was mainly famous for his portrayals of famous samurai and legendary heroes but he also made some beautiful landscapes and bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women).
