This is a lovely Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi by Sanpei Yamanaka. She is a large size and has beautiful long black hair. With a few lines the artisan has shaped her kimono beautifully and with a few red dots plum flowers were added.
Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi troughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought after by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979.
