This is a Vintage kokeshi by the famous awardwinning Sanpei Yamanaka. The kokeshi combines a very powerful look with a gentle face. This kokeshi comes with her original box.
Yamanaka-San was born in Yamagata and made creative kokeshi troughout his entire career. His kokeshi are really sought by collectors all over the world. He won the prestigious 'Prime Minister Award' in 1979.
