This lovely Vintage Kijiyama Kokeshi is a well known design by Onodera Koraku. The plum tree is just lovely drawn. The flower in the hair of the doll is a nice feature. The Japanese plum (ume) is a popular flower in Japan and plays an important role in their culture. It is one of the first blossoms to appear each year and they prelude the start of spring. This event is celebrated with the plum festival 'Ume Matsuri'.
